Mende Culture

Largest tribe in Sierra Leone, known for rich oral traditions, vibrant music, and strong agricultural practices. Social structure includes age-grade and secret societies.

Temne Culture:

Reside in northern and western Sierra Leone, historically involved in trading and commerce. Known for cultural rites like Bondo and Poro societies, and for celebrating key life events.

Limba Culture:

Indigenous to northern Sierra Leone, known for craftsmanship in ironworking and weaving. Social organization based on lineage-based clans and strong family networks.

Krio Culture:

Descendants of freed slaves and repatriated Africans, settled mainly in urban areas. Unique culture blending African, European, and American influences, with a distinct language, Krio, and significant contributions to literature, music, and cuisine.
